We talk about odd ball oils all the time. Let’s take a step back and remember/learn the very basics. This is the stuff you heard about at your very first essential oil class.
In my home, we use essential oils as a natural form of taking care of our health – bringing ourselves to optimal wellness.
If you’ve ever used essential oils before, AWESOME!!
If you haven’t let me help clear up some questions you may have in a few Back to Basics posts over the next few days.
The most basic of those questions:
WHAT is an Essential Oil?
Nope, it’s not a cooking oil like olive or coconut oil. It’s actually an aromatic compound. We just call them oils because it appears to be a similar viscosity.
Essential Oils are a plant’s medicine. It’s what that plant uses to stay health and fight off unwanted pathogens. We harvest that essential oil from the rind, roots, leaves, resin, etc and we use those oils to take care of our own health.
Pretty amazing, right? What a beautiful creation we are and what a beautiful solution that’s been provided for us.

When it comes to essential oils, you get what you pay for. There’s hardly any regulation on the essential oil market, so you have to do your due diligence when purchasing oils.
After research, I fell on doTERRA. DoTERRA holds themself to the highest purity and safety standards on the market. Plus, they hold themselves to fair trade and sustainability practices.
