DIY Fabric Softener

This is the final post in my series on How to Makeover your Laundry Room Naturally. We’ve made homemade bleach that’s safe on colors, we’ve talked laundry detergent, and made our own homemade dryer sheets (or bought wool dryer balls). Now we get to make some Fabric Softener!

Just like every other recipe, this one is fast, easy, and free of the crazy toxins. This is just another way that you can rid a harmful chemical from your house. Let’s get DIYing!

DIY Fabric Softener

  • 64 ounce bag of Epsom Salt
  • 20 drops Lemon Essential Oil
  • 30 drops Melaleuca EO
  • 40 drops Lavender EO

Mix all ingredients in a large stainless steel or glass bowl. Stir well. Store in a Pretty Glass Jar! Add a 1/2 cup to medium-large loads and add 1/4 cup to small loads. Temperature doesn’t matter. Now you just need to prepare yourself for awesome smelling and oober soft laundry!

  1. Question….when do you add this to the washer? At the beginning of the cycle or should you wait till the rinse cycle? Thank you!
